The unusual monument is located in the city of Vyazma, which shows the writer’s shadow, and was created by sculptor Alexander Sorokin.

According to Alexander Klimenkov, Vyazemsky mayor, the idea of the monument is something weighty, but at the same time elusive, and this mood best corresponds to the definition of the stay in Vyazma of the most famous literary mystic of Russia of the 20th century.
Among the residents of Vyazma, a new monument caused controversy. Some came to admiration of how original the memorial, others left in perplexity the complete lack of pedestal for the monument and its similarity with the usual tombstone.
It is also unclear why the local authorities decided not to ennoble the territory around the monument, and even the grass surrounding the memorial was not removed. It seems that this is not a memorial at all, but it is not clear how the grave of a writer turned out to be in the park. Photo Source
