This abandoned hotel in the forest of Bali Mountains may look like an ancient disaster, but it is actually the end of a failed investment.
“The mystery surrounding the construction of the hotel and its owner,” says photographer Romain Veillon, who traveled up there to turn Ghost Hotel.
Abandoned Ghost Hotel Bali — “Some say the owner was cursed because of his corrupt actions, others that the guests suddenly disappeared one night and that their ghosts returned to haunted the hotel,” jokes.
“It was probably an abandoned investment plan by Tommy Suharto,” he says.
Tommy Suharto is son of the former dictator of Indonesia, General Suharto. In 2002, he was jailed for killing a Judge of the Indonesian Supreme Court, who had found him guilty of corruption.
Thus, the “PI Bedugul Taman Rekreasi Hotel – Resort”, as it is known in the hotel, was abandoned and left to the destruction and pursuit of nature.
The Ghost Palace Hotel, However, some spaces remain incorruptible, such as the lobby that is decorated with tiles and sculptures.
Before he left, Veillon pulled up some foggy images that had covered the hotel in a matter of minutes.
For the photographer, these fog pictures are a testimony of the power of nature.
