Abandoned venues of Athens Olympic 2004

Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The history of these competences goes back almost 3000 years ago. However, unlike ancient Greece, contemporary Greeks have little reason to be proud of the accomplishment of the Olympics. In 2004 in Athens the twenty-eighth edition of the Olympic Games was held, but in just 11 years, the sports structures along with the Olympic Village became true ruins.

The sand for beach volleyball is overgrown.

The preparation for the Olympics took flying a lot of money to the Greek government. According to some estimates, the expenditure incurred amounted to over 16 billion dollars. The main expenses fell on the shoulders of taxpayers, as investors thought no hurry to invest in the construction of these sports structures of limited use.

It has just been a decade, and modern super sports construction was unnecessary. Now here you could record movies of ghost towns. The enormous amount of money was actually spent in vain. The sad example of the Olympics in Athens calm to other countries who wish to host the Olympics in their territory, thought-provoking addition to those who already gives the greatest sports games today.

After the Olympics planned to turn this into a concert stage, but since then has not conducted a single presentation. Eurovision winner Elena Paparizou appeared here in 2005.

Of course, to reach this kind of as sad consequences they involved several factors, chief of which was the lack of a plan for the use of sports facilities after the Olympics. I hope this Greek lesson to be learned by other countries and in the future something similar does not happen again … If you are impressed by the desolation of the Olympic venues in Athens, then share this note with your friends.
