Initially, the site of the park Mill Ends planned to build a searchlight towers, but for some reason its construction has not begun, and the beginning is the place covered with grass. Dick Fagan, a journalist Oregon Journal, whose office overlooks the abandoned land, he decided to do something with it. He planted a few plants here and even wrote a newspaper article dedicated to Mill Ends Park. Enthusiasts managed to create an entire song mini-park decorated with elves, along with other plants grow shamrocks. No less interesting objects can be seen in families with children in the suburbs.

One of the most unusual parks in the world officially appeared in 1976. For decades, residents contribute to the development of the park: from tiny pools and springboards for butterflies to tiny statuettes and figurines. The Guinness Book of Records miniature park Mill Ends listed as the smallest park in 1971. The park is so popular that, in 2013, when someone stole a pine tree from the park, it has attracted the attention of national US media. The city was soon replaced by a tree, but soon the pine was found and put it in another place.

Interesting fact: in 2013, representatives of the British Park Princes Park, which is located in Staffordshire, would deprive the Park Mill Ends his famous record. They even appealed to the editors of Guinness and asked them to pay attention to the definition of the word “park”. According to them, Mill Ends Park – it is nothing like the famous colored pot. But the editors of the book of Guinness World Records, apparently, did not agree, so the American Park in Portland is still considered to be the smallest in the world.
